Life moves on come what may. This is what the town of Puri is living through. With shattered glass panels of hotel rooms it looks like they have been bombed. Heaps of sand covers the black-top road which runs parallel to the beach and is one of Puri’s most active spots. The destruction has failed to subdue human spirit and efforts that are already under way by locals, volunteers and civic staff. All together are trying to get the town up and running.
The cyclone was a nightmare. People says they never expected it to be so bad. But it is Lord Jagannath’s land and hence they have faith that things will be fine with his blessings. The city is trying to start afresh. Street vendors were seen busy collecting whatever useful was left in their stalls which earlier use to sell decorative pieces.  Even though it may take them months to restore infrastructure they are determined to bounce back by the grace of Lord.

In Bhubaneswar, the Municipal corporation is facing with the uphill task of clearing the debris from the roads with its nearly 700 sanitary workers having left for their native villages after Fani struck through coastal Odisha, blowing away thatched houses and flattening roads, towns and villages.

As a result, the restoration work has slowed down in the city. Residents said tonnes of green waste lies strewn across the city. Meanwhile, residents of several localities have taken up the responsibility to to clean their respective areas themselves.
