Nitin Gadkari the transport minister said that the government approved the national permit scheme for the inter-state travel which seeks to give national permits to bus operator
The transport minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday said that the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2019 is expected to be taken up by the Rajya Sabha on Monday.
The Bill, which seeks to weed out corruption, improve road safety and promote technological usage to regulate traffic, has already been passed by the Lok Sabha this Tuesday.
Bill was passed by a voice vote rejecting several amendments moved by the opposition.
The Bill will be presented on Monday in the Rajya Sabha and is expected to be passed.
Gadkari said that the government on Thursday has approved the national permit scheme for the inter-state travel which seeks to give national permits to bus operators but the same facility for trucks may take time as the states have some reservations on this.
He said as a way out he will increase the revenue of states by 3-4 percent which will be credited to states in a proportionate manner.
However, there will be no need for a permit for electric vehicles including buses, car taxis, autos, and bike taxis.
