Tripura girl Arunika Ghosh wins All India Fide Rating Chess Competition defeating State Champion Biswajit Nag at the fifth round.
Tripura: With several ups and downs the All India Fide Rating Chess Competition at Agartala came to an end on 21st May 2019, which started on 17th May 2019. All together nine rounds were played. 179 players from Tripura Assam and West Bengal participated in the tournament.
Umasankar Dutta, Biswajit Nag, Rajveer Ahamed, Arunika Ghosh bagged 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th prizes. Arunika Ghosh defeated several times Tripura State Champion Biswajit Nag.
On the fifth round Arunika defeated Biswajit Nag. It was held at Bhagat Singh Yuva Awas on Sunday morning. Biswajit Nag who is a coach at Ananda Chess academy competed with Arunika Ghosh, student of Matrix Chess Academy.
Arunika is standard ninth student from Sri Krishna School. She is the only daughter of Sajal and Apara Ghosh. Arunika shared that this victory has boosted confidence and she would focus even more on the coming rounds .
The inaugural session of the event was graced by the presence of Shri Udayan Sinha , Director, Youth Affairs and Sports Government of Tripura as Chief Guest and Shri Subal Kumar Dey, President of Press Club Agartala, Sri D.V Sundar Vice President, FIDE (World Chess Federation) and All India Chess Federation, Bharat Singh Chauhan, Abhijit Battacharjee . Prof. Manas Deb Barman who is the President of All Tripura Chess Association presided both the sessions.
