Eid-ul-Azha being celebrated today

The festival of sacrifice – Eid-ul-Azha is being celebrated with religious ardour and exuberance across the country today.

Eid prayers offered at Eidgahs and mosques across. In Delhi, main Eid congregations will be held at Jama Masjid, Fatehpuri mosque and Shahi Eidgah. 

President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu have greeted the people on the occasion. In his message, President Kovind said, Eid symbolises love, fraternity and service to humanity. 

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu said, the festival is an ode to the virtues of devotion, faith and sacrifice and inspires feelings of brotherhood, compassion and unity. Mr Naidu hoped that the festivities will strengthen the spirit of generosity and bring people closer to one another.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted the people on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. In a tweet, Mr. Modi expressed hope that the festival will further the spirit of peace and happiness in the society.
