Modi and his council of ministers were administered the oath of office and secrecy by President Ram Nath Kovind in a grand ceremony at the forecourt of the majestic Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Leaders of all BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) countries participated in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony on Thursday for a second term. Member countries of BIMSTEC include Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand besides India participated at the event.
President of Bangladesh Abdul Hamid, Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister of Nepal KP Sharma Oli, President of Myanmar U Win Myint and Bhutanese Prime Minister Lotay Tshering, Special Envoy Grisada Boonrach represented Thailand at the ceremony attended the oath-taking ceremony.
Countries renowned personalities from politics, captains of industry, film celebrities, artists, noble laureate, constitutional heads, diplomats, Chief Ministers etc. also attended the function. Approx figure of 8000 invitees attended the ceremony.
