Primary schools in Jammu and Kashmir reopen today but few students show up

Phone lines and internet services were also suspended, though around 50,000 landline phone connections have now been restored.

In Kashmir, schools re-opened today in many parts of Valley as restrictions were eased further with teachers reporting to work in many schools.

According to sources, the government has made all the requisite arrangements for the opening of 190 primary schools in Srinagar city.

Students were seen turning up in Police Public School at Bemina and a few Kendriya Vidyalayas. 

A senior Srinagar district official said that most of the schools on the periphery of the summer capital city were opened.

Authorities had planned to open schools up to the primary level and make all government offices functional from today.
