He said the Modi government’s goal is to not only ensure the overall development of the region but also to preserve its unique identity. Mr Shah was speaking after laying the foundation stones of Karbi Bhawan and Dimasa Bhawan in New Delhi today.

The Minister accused the previous Congress governments of neglecting the North East.

He asserted that during the first term of the Modi government, infrastructure development of the region has been given a special priority. He also said that incidents of violence and militancy have reduced considerably during the period.
