Imphal April 4th: National Institute of Technology, Manipur inaugurates its first ever Tech meet at NIT Lamphelpat on Monday. This four day event will have various events which would be beneficial for all the students.
Talking on the occasion Prof. Gautam Biswas, Director IIT Guwahati and JC Bose National Fellow stated that five major civilisation and their discoveries such as -Maharishi Kanad (600BC), how he discovered atom, Aryabhatta who discovered ‘zero’ and could estimate the value of ‘pie’, Bhramagupta who gave idea and birth to modern day innovation.
He further stressed on how two revolutions, Industrial and Renaissance gave birth to 16 Universities. How renowned Punjab University and Panjab University gave birth to many laureates. Concept of Independent research came up at that era, mentioning of Indian Association for the Cultivation, Calcutta. He recalled all the famous souls from this country who has contributed in the world of science.
Prof .L.Tombi stated that, “As our life change, technologies also change. How would one face when all human labour be replaced by robot”.
Gautam Basu, Director IIT Guwahati expressed that ’every business has failures. When a company matures then, servicing is the only secondary part, innovation is the main criteria”.
Prof. S. Vengopal Director, NIT Nagaland said, “future is for research. Form a good team, develop your skills and go for a prosperous long way ahead.” He appealed students to go for multi-disciplinary skills which will pay them at the end.
Mr.Prosanto Pal, senior fellow, Industrial energy Division, TERI New Delhi , shared his words that, it is his passion which has made him chose. He spoke on green manufacturing. He gave a brief perspective on saving energy in industries, on improving efficiency and energy cost. “One can do innovation to save energy”, so that there is a big gamut, look for projects where the challenges and learning would come from. TERI also encourages interns in coming in future.” A future project in NIT is coming up along with NIT Manipur.
One of the speaker clearly mentioned that, Intellectual space is in cyber space; one doesn’t need library but try to read more since all best lectures are on Internet. One needs to cope with the challenges. Students should look on sustainable application and production and try to look into the market for it. He concluded his words by saying, “one need to keep one’s own track, and not to let external force divert oneself from the main goal.
Pawan Tiwari, TERI , New Delhi expressed that the modern innovative way of Coco cola project has helped many lives in getting their house lit during nights. He expressed on how things like, capacity building and team spirit will help the youths grow in coming future.

Ltd and his colleagues were some of the dignitaries present at the occasion.
Tech fest events:
The words of the quests having experience in various disciplines ignited the minds of young engineers. Students from various colleges came and participated in various events like debate, Hr. interaction, Technical quiz, career counseling, creative writing, and robotics expo, code debugging writing skill, robotics expo and code debugging. They compete among themselves with each showing their skills in various fields.
There were also sessions about cyber security, blind coding competition, UI designing competition and treasure hunt, metal sheet designing competition. Science exhibition were also held where various weapons used by Indian Army were also displayed.
There was also VLSI hackathon and AutoCAD 3D design competitions adding the flavour of mega cultural events during the evenings.
