The 28th Yonex-Sunrise Krishna Khaitan Memorial All India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament, organised under the aegis of Badminton Association of India (BAI), was held in Haryana.

Manipur’s top-seed shuttler Maisnam Meiraba Luwang bagged the U-19 boy’s single title.

After Sunday’s win Meiraba headed towards his father and coach Maisnam Romesh Luwang. His father played at the national level in the 1980s before he became a coach.

Though initially, he received his training at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium in Imphal but later he shifted his base to Bengaluru in 2013 to train at Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy.

Sunday’s win has almost cemented his place in the upcoming Junior World Championship to be held in Russia in October this year.

After Sunday’s success match, Meiraba is dreaming of winning World Junior Badminton Championship this year.
