Manipur’s Students Committee bans Teacher’s day celebration

The students committee  also claimed that the relationship between teachers and the students has changed owing to the trend of gift presentation during Teacher’s day.

Joint Students Coordination Committee, a forum of different student bodies in Manipur has  given a call to boycott teacher’s day celebration in Manipur  blaming the observance of  forging a materialistic culture between teachers and students, and placing the students of well to do families at a clear advantage over the students of not so well to do families. 

The student’s committee also claimed that the relationship between teachers and the students has changed owing to the trend of gift presentation during Teacher’s day.

Briefing media at its DM College office on September 3, convener of the committee, Peter Laishram said that the relationship between the teachers and students are being built on expensive gifts, placing the poor students at a clear disadvantage. 

Appealing to the student’s community in the state to avoid the trend of presenting gifts during teacher’s day, Peter further appealed to the educational institutions to avoid teacher’s day celebration.
