In the age of online transaction, the transport department is trying to make the government process of issuing challan online. As a step forward the government is trying to make fastag popular. They are thinking of making it mandatory for all vehicles entering Delhi.

At times even though one is unaware of violating any traffic rules but if one has been caught violating the MV Act at any point, then there are certain options to settle it down.

In addition to this a link for the payment of the requisite fine is available on the page, from where one can pay the fine directly by online payment methods, which are facilitated by the SBI.

Many residents of Delhi these days are receiving SMS stating that their vehicles have been found of violating the traffic rules. They were provided a link which provided the picture of their vehicle along with the E challan and date and time of violation.

All the E-challans mentions various sections of the MV Act. It also has a message sharing the statistics of accidents and why driving safely is a requirement.

Since April 2018 it has been made mandatory to provide a Mobile number while purchasing a new vehicle. For vehicles prior to that, the database is continuously being updated as soon as someone pays online challan.

One can also update his mobile number on the Parivahan portal. Even if the mobile number is not updated in the official records, the challans are being sent by post at the end of each month. If the fine is not settled within 6 months, the case is referred to the court.

From 7th June 2019, amendments have been made to the Uttar Pradesh Motor Vehicles Rules, with revised fine amounts.
Untill and unless the pending challan amount is cleared no RTO related task, like vehicle registration transfer, removal of hypothecation, fitness, NOC etc will be entertained.
