Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan to be awarded Bill Gates Foundation award

It is a decision by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to honor Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan (Clean India Mission) that aims to improve sanitation in India . Gates was very much impressed by the vaccination improvements in india. He fells the country is the appropriate recipient of the award.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be awarded for improving sanitation at the Goalkeepers Global Goals Awards in New York on September 25 by Gates Foundation . It is a decision by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to honor Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan (Clean India Mission) that aims to improve sanitation in India. For Bill Gates, the Microsoft founder and the world’s second richest person, toilets, vaccination, gender equity and ending poverty are the highest priorities.

Gates was very much impressed by the vaccination improvements in India . In most of the counties innumerable diseases are caused due to poor sanitation but still it’s not a priority till date . Bill Gates feels that over the last five years as India has taken lot of initiatives and has allocated resources to clean up India, so the country is the appropriate recipient of the award.
The award recognises Modi’s contribution to providing 500 million people safer sanitation.

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s also recognizes India’s development in use of digital technology to make people’s lives better. The Gates Foundation’s has always prioritized in the parts of India with a large population burden where the health services needed the most improvement, specifically in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

These areas have shown remarkable improvements in the health sector.
India has made progress in terms of financial services with women access increasing from 40% to 70%. In the field of vaccines, India has countywide adoption of new vaccines.

Though the decision has been supported in many quarters in india but has come under criticism from activists and members of the civil society.
