The initiative is towards creating Swachh Railway Stations

In order to handing over the cleaning job of Railway Stations to SHGs an MoU was signed between DC Hailkandi district of Assam and NF Railway represented by Area Manager Umesh on 1st October. The initiative is towards creating Swachh Railway Stations.

In a first of its kind initiative in North East, the cleaning job of Railway Stations to SHGs will be taken up on a monthly payment basis which is in line with the hugely successful Kudumbasree model of Kerala, informed Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi J. Keerthi.

As a pilot, project Hailakandi Railway Station was handed over to Loknath SHG which is under National Urban Livelihood Mission. Lala Railway Station was handed over to Maa Manosha SHG which is under NULM. Panchgram Railway Station was handed over to Nabonita SHG which is under National Rural Livelihood Mission

As a goodwill gesture district administration provided aprons and toiletries have been provided by NF Railways.

The program was attended by CEO Zilla Parishad Shanti Kumar Singha, Executive Officer, Hailakandi, Pradip Timung, DPM NRLM, Viplab Nath, DPM NULM Mustafa Laskar.
