Praveen Kumar become India’s first-ever Men’s World Champion in Wushu by securing Gold Medal in the 48kg category at the Wushu World Championships in Shanghai.

Congratulating on his win Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports echoed ‘What a proud moment for India!

The World Wushu Championships (WWC) is the official world championship event that is hosted by the International Wushu Federation. First held in 1991, the WWC takes place biennially and is the official pinnacle championships of the IWUF, featuring the highest competitive level within the sport of wushu.

This year the event was held from 18th October to 23rd October in Shanghai. China came first in rank with 10 gold and 1 bronze medals. India stood tenth in rank with one gold, one silver and one bronze medal.
