Assam Rifles promotes Fit India Movement in remote village
Assam Rifles organised a ‘Run for Peace’ event at the remote village of Khongtal in Chandel district to commemorate the 151st Gandhi Jayanti celebrations. A three kilometers Peace-run for the villagers of all ages was organised to spread the message of peace and tranquillity in the area. The event also culminates the ‘FIT INDIA FREEDOM RUN’ which had commenced on 15th Aug 2020.
Villagers from all age groups including women participated in the event. Finishers in the event were awarded post culmination of the run. This run is the first ever one of its kind event organised in one of the forward areas adjacent to Indo-Myanmar Border in the remote location of Khongtal. It was inspiring to see all the participants brave the bad weather during the run. The warmth of their hearts definitely cut through the cold making an otherwise dreary morning into something truly special.
After the event, during an informal interaction, the locals expressed their gratitude for the good work done by Assam Rifles in the area in maintaining peace, harmony and also contributing towards the development of the area.
