Cachar Forest Division thanked the public of Cachar District for trusting the Forest Dept and sharing information about illegal transportation of timber.
Three trucks coming from Mizoram on Saturday at wee hours around 2 AM carrying teak sawn timber and bead without Transit Permit were apprehended by the Officials of Cachar Forest Division, Silchar led by Sunnydeo Choudhary, DFO Cachar, Dibyajyoti Deori, Range Forest Officer, Hawaithang Range, Dholai and Protection Squad along with other officers of the Range. The estimated quantity of the seized timber is around 2000 cu ft. The drivers and handyman have been arrested and further interrogation is going on.
