In view of 16 days of activism against gender based violence, District Administration BBBP, MSK & OSC Longleng conducted an awareness and senitization program for Men folk at Bhumnyu Baptist Church, Longleng on 28th November 2020, under the theme “Orange the World; Fund, respond, prevent, collect.”
In her introductory note, Nyangyungsangla, Counsellor OSC spoke on the significance of 16 days activism observed all over the world. Monyei Phom, panel lawyer gave a brief explanation on the woman’s legal rights. She also encouraged the gathering to always approach the legal office for further information. Trongdiba Sangtam SDO (C) Longleng in his short speech challenged the man folk to bring changes starting with small gestures.
Speaking on the topic, Tialemba Phom Executive secretary, PBCA Longleng, dwelt on the increasing number of violence against women in our country.
He said, discrimination starts from our family, where we differentiate between boy and girl child, also in our society where women are blamed and criticize for every negativity. He encouraged the gathering to fight for women rights and to always support girl child education and added that to fight for women rights is not to deceive men but to co-exist.
The welcome speech was delivered by BBC Pastor & Chairman village council while the program was chaired by Phungla WWO Longleng.
