We need to ensure that we get vaccinated in an orderly manner
Vaccination against the dreaded coronavirus which had created a turmoil in our life is going to start officially in India from 16th January. Serum Institute of India has started dispatching the vaccines to different parts of the country. PM Modi has termed it as one of the crucial phases in our fight against the virus. 30 Crores people are expected to get vaccinated in the first phase in the next few months. We are gearing up for the systematic implementation of the vaccination process.
Science has delivered the vaccine and now it is up to the other stakeholders to deliver starting from the government policy, infrastructure management and sequential implementation of the process without a hiccup. The governments seem confident and we all are waiting expectantly and hopeful of a good outcome.
It will be imperative for the system to undertake a smooth implementation without any chaos. The protocol is set and we all have to accept the laid out guidelines.
It will be an experience to observe whether we can become a civilised society and learn to stand in the queue and not try to jump our number.
Already various rumour is being circulated and memes are getting circulated which does not help at all. We need to ascertain that we get vaccinated in an orderly manner. WHO has urged governments to expedite the process in next 100 days in order to beat the menace as it is equally trying to mutate and we do not know for sure what would be the effect of a mutation in the vaccines.
The road ahead is a long one and we need to understand that vaccination is just one of the step of our fight against the virus. We still have to adhere to the other protocols as we deed earlier as well as open our economy. This will be the test of mankind how do we balance of surviving in an environment which is not normal. Till we understand the ‘new normal’, we shall remain in the dilemma…
