“Indigenous Livelihood Skills for Economic and Environmental Sustainability”
Sponsored by the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Youth Development, (Programme for Development of North-East Youth through Higher Education Institutions) Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India, a two-day Workshop (27-28th January 2021) on Weaving, Bamboo Craft, Pottery & Beadwork under the Theme “Indigenous Livelihood Skills for Economic and Environmental Sustainability” get started today at Mokokchung College of Teacher Education.
Prof. Sibnath Deb, Director RGNIYD, the Chief Guest of the programme, while delivering his speech (Via Google meet) thanked the Mokokchung College of School Education (MCTE) for organizing such programme saying that we need to protect and preserve indigenous culture, therefore, by organizing such workshop would help motivate the younger generation in preserving one’s culture.
He said the key to promoting indigenous livelihood skills, we need professionalism, proper management and identifying the right output and said when it comes to culture, tradition and various indigenous approaches, people from the mainland have a lot to learn from the north-east people.
Akok Walling (Retired Principal, Dimapur Govt. College, Nagaland), the main Speaker of the programme, spoke on the theme “Indigenous Livelihood Skills for Economic and Environmental Sustainability” while T. Alemla Longkumer, Principal, MCTE delivered the welcome address.
