“To become good citizens as consumers, producers, distributors and traders, we have to adopt the principle of needonomics based on spiritually guided materialism strategy flowing from Gita,” opined former Vice Chancellor and Advisor 6th SFC Haryana Professor M.M. Goel.

He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of an international seminar jointly organised by Madhav Sanskriti Nyas and Batadraba Than Parichalona Samiti, Bordowa here today on the topic ‘  Gita based Needonomics for Human Development’. Dr. Budhen Kumar Saikia convener welcomed and presented a citation on the achievements of the needonomist Goel.

To resolve most of the socio-economic problems caused by greedonomics (economics of greed) including ‘cobra effect’ of debt, corruption, terrorism, exploitation and discrimination, needonomics is necessary and sufficient, said Prof. Goel.

To obtain atmanirbharta, we need REACH  model consisting of five steps including read gita, empowerment with enlightenment, altruistic approach, commitment and holding needs, believes, Needonomist Goel.

The economy can be made consumer friendly by adopting NAW (Need, Affordability and Worth) approach of marketing with a focus on the need based priorities in choices of all kinds, explained Prof. Goel.

For our real empowerment, we have to imbibe the lessons of wisdom in the Gita and Anu-Gita with spiritual awakening, told Prof. Goel.

We have to become street SMART (simple, moral, action oriented, responsive and transparent) in attitude and behaviour, said Prof. Goel
