There was a shortage of more than eight hundred doctors

KRC TIMES Desk

The issue of shortage of doctors in the state has been neglected for a long time by the state government.  The doctors who have passed during this period face uncertainty. These doctors have met with the health minister and failed several times to raise their concerns. However, a large part of them has worked as front line fighters in the war against Corona and the government has used these doctors.

The government seems to have treated them as a stop-gap arrangement but is having a lackadaisical attitude when it comes to their employment.  But this shortage of doctors is an important indication of the state’s health services. The large unemployed doctors have created a family problem for these unemployed doctors. Because of the opening of medical colleges in the state, the talented children of many poor and middle-class families have been able to fulfil their dream of becoming doctors.

But there is another side as well. A large portion of these parents has risked their lives savings to cover the cost of educating these doctors. Some of them have taken loans from banks, which are now under pressuring of the banks to repay their loans. Someone has raised money by selling land or selling ornaments. Those who had hope, firmly believed that once the child became a doctor, all the problems would be solved, then the debt could be settled or new land could be bought.

But the real experience is completely different. In September 2019, it was informed in the state assembly that a proposal has been sent from the health department to the finance department to eliminate the shortage of doctors. The shortage of doctors will be eliminated after receiving further instructions from the state government. According to the information of that time, there was a shortage of more than eight hundred doctors.
