A balance between ‘have it all and I have enough, “thank you, God”
The headline is catchy, and I was pondering for a long on this headline. But this is not a headline to get noticed but a reality to which I have started living myself to make my own contribution for the future.
My only son is ten years old and I know I will do my best for his future. I basically live for him, but I want to see one step further. I may be doing the right things for my son but I do have to start thinking for my grandchild. For anybody, his or her grandchild is so important, sometimes it is more important than their child. That is Indian culture at its own core.
I believe that it is our responsibility to make our future generation become more comfortable than we were and leave the world a better place through our actions. The five things I want to preach as well as practice:
- I want to give the best but do not want them to become comfortable. I better show my next generation what is right but they should achieve it. I will give them all the comfort materialistically, but I will teach them also to switch off the AC when they go out of the room.
- Do practice every day the best green deeds myself irrespective of what others think or the consequences I face. I remember I am doing it for the next generations.
- I limit my lifestyle as well as my next generation to a green lifestyle where humanity, environment, spirituality, health, and happiness are the priority and ‘Peace’ is the ultimate goal.
- I take care of my family priorities with a focus on my immediate society, my immediate identity in terms of culture and tradition, with a punch of having the best practices to live in a commercially volatile society. A balance between ‘have it all and I have enough, “thank you, God”
- Think of the future while I take any steps by developing, ‘I live for my grandchild’ mantra.
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) are not just mere think tank statements to be reiterated in official policy documents but post-Covid, I hope we have understood we need to activate many policies in real-time, fast track…
