Executive Council of Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) in Meghalaya has taken a decision to ban the use of plastics in areas and all traditional markets.  The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of KHADC, Titosstarwel Chyne informed about this decision taken today while interacting with media persons.

Chyne highlighted that earlier in 2019 the council had issued the same order to ban the use of plastic in markets that fall under its jurisdiction.

Chyne urged traditional heads and all shopkeepers to adhere to the decision of the council and make all traditional markets a plastic-free zone.

He further informed that an enforcement team will be formed along with the help of police personnel and also educate people on the harm of using plastics.
