‘Swarnim Vijay Mashaal’ that symbolises India’s victory over Pakistan in 1971 War reached Srikona, Assam on 27 Oct where it witnessed a grand welcome by the locals. The Flame was ushered by a contingent of troops from Pailapool to Srikona. Enthusiastic participation was witnessed as the locals of Silchar city who came forward to welcome besides ‘Silchar Thumpers Bikers Club’ and other participants accompanied the cavalcade.
The ‘Victory’ celebrations commenced with the performance of the Pipe Band of Assam Rifles. The event was followed by paying homage to the Soldiers who made supreme sacrifice with Wreath Laying and Floral Tribute at the War Memorial of Masimpur Cantt. Subsequently, the ‘Swarnim Vijay Mashaal’ was received at Rajeev Sandhu Auditorium, Masimpur with a screening of a movie depicting the Valour and Glory of Armed Forces in 1971 War.
The celebrations also included a Cultural programme by K V students of Massimpur & felicitation of war veterans for their contribution and selfless service for the greater glory of the nation. The grand event was witnessed by 1971 War Veterans, District Commissioner of Cachar and Superintendent of Police of Cachar district, locals & troops.
