Chief Secretary hoped that IFAD will continue to support the people with their expertise to overcome the challenges in agriculture marketing as well

Country Director of United Nations’ International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) for Asia and Pacific Division, Han Ulac Demirag called on the Chief Secretary of Nagaland, J Alam, in the Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima on yesterday.

The Chief Secretary appreciated the IFAD for the interest shown in Nagaland specially to enable people in rural areas to generate better incomes for farmers and improve their food security and economy. He hoped that the project in the State will continue to help the farmers learn new and innovative farming technologies for agricultural growth. Alam emphasized the need to train on global best practices so that farmers can take advantage of the available natural resources such as land and water, as well as agricultural technologies for better outcomes.

Stating that Nagaland was rich in fertile land and abundant resources, the Chief Secretary hoped that IFAD will continue to support the people with their expertise to overcome the challenges in agriculture marketing as well.

Han Ulac Demirag appreciated the Government of Nagaland for their commitment towards the implementation of the project and assured to extend help in every possible way during the forthcoming mid-term review.
