As part of the year-long Golden Jubilee celebration of Manipuri cinema, the Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) is presenting a five-day ‘Indian Panorama Film Festival Manipur’ from December 11 to 15, 2021, at the Palace Auditorium, MSFDS, Palace Gate, Imphal.
The festival is being organized in collaboration with the Directorate of Film Festival, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
A special feature of the festival includes a rare retrospective of Aribam Syam Sharma, the master filmmaker of Manipur. Some of his masterpieces such as Imagee Ningthem (1981), Olangthagee Wangmadasu (1979), Sanabi (1995) and Ishanou (1990) will be screened in the celluloid version, along with his critically acclaimed documentaries and short films.
Besides, the film festival will also showcase some of the finest films of Indian cinema, especially curated from the Indian Panorama section of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), for the years 2020 and 2021. Each year, the Directorate of Film Festival receives hundreds of entries but only a few films get selected in the Indian Panorama section.
This five-day film festival will be a rare opportunity for film lovers to witness some of the finest picks of Indian cinema as well as attend two (2) master classes screenplay and film direction, by two prominent Indian filmmakers, C. Umamaheswara Rao and Priya Krishnaswamy respectively,
Entry is free for all and film screening begins daily at 9:00 am till 9:30 pm.
