Government led by Assam CM is leaving no stone unturned towards fulfilling its promises : Minister Hazarika

Rupees 1,500 crores will be spent on flood relief in 70 assembly constituencies in the state of Assam, informed Pijush Hazarika, Minister for Water Resources and Information and Public Relations, who is on a two day visit to the Barak Valley region.

Minister laid the foundation stone of Barak river protection work in Lakhipur subdivision of Cachar district and also announced that Rs 100 crore would be provided in the next four years for the reconstruction and repair of river dyke at flood-prone Lakhipur assembly constituency. Rs 20 to 25 crore will be allocated every year for flood control in the Lakhipur constituency, he said.

The minister also directed Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, Keerthi Jalli, to inspect the projects during implementation. In a meeting at Rupaibali, MLA, Lakhipur, Kaushik Rai said that another project worth of Rs 3cr 30lacs  would be sanctioned in Hatirhar soon.  

MLA Kaushik Rai affirmed that a bridge would be built over the river Barak at Shilghat.  He also informed that the process of approval for the construction of the proposed bridge is in progress. MLA Rai further informed that the  Dyke cum Road at Rupaibali will be constructed at a cost of 7cr,63lacs, which will be implemented by the Public Works Department.

A meeting was held at Sri Lily English High School on the occasion of laying the foundation stone of a project worth Rupees 3 Cr, 49 lac, 64 thousand to prevent erosion of the Barak river in Singerband.

Earlier,  Minister Hazarika had visited the erosion site of Barak River at North Krishnapur.  MLA Karim Uddin Barbhuiyan was also accompanied Minister Hazarika during the inspection.
