In a joint operation, Jiribam District police and Assam Rifles rescued two FCI truck drivers after they were reportedly abducted by some unknown militant from the New Kaiphundai area Tamenglong district on NH-37 yesterday.

Speaking with media persons, Superintendent of Police Ksh. Rabikumar Singh said on receipt of information, a joint search operation was conducted by Jiribam Police, Commando Team, and 39 Assam Rifles led by Addl. S.P (Opps), Jiribam.

During the joint operation supported by 39 Assam Rifles, the two kidnapped victim was rescued today at around 12:10 pm from the jungle area of Tamenglong District.

The incident which occurred is in the area of Tamenglong District due to which the case was registered at Tousem Sub Division, Tamenglong District.

The rescued truck drivers are identified as Inao Khan (29), S/o:- M. Khamba Mia of Lakhipur District, Cachar, Assam, and K. Brajamani Singh (65) S/o: Suresh Singh of Poiroukhonjin, Imphal East District.
