Police have roughly asserted the market cost of opium to be around fifty lakh rupees

Forces of Borpathar police station backed by Central Reserve Police Force today recovered a huge quantity of opium from a truck registered in Barmer district of Rajasthan and have arrested two persons in this connection.

The police force based on definite input intercepted a bitumen carrying truck, which was returning from Khatkati town close to Nagaland border at Khakarajan police checkpoint around 12.30 pm on Monday.

The unoccupied truck was searched thoroughly by the police, eventually, forty two packets of opium weighing forty five kilogram were recovered from a furtive chamber of the driver’s cabin. Police have roughly asserted the market cost of opium to be around fifty lakh rupees.

The whole operation was led by Inspector Dipen Bora, an officer in charge of Borpathar police station, Inspector Bora has informed that the truck owner Babulal Bisnoi aged around forty five years and the truck driver Jalaram Bisnoi aged around twenty five years of Barmer district of Rajasthan have been arrested on the charge of smuggling narcotic substance.

He has also informed that both the arrested persons have confessed that the consignment of the drug was planned to be delivered in Baihata Chariali, an outgrowth urban centre of Guwahati City in Kamrup Rural district situated at the northern bank of the river Brahmaputra.
