The Indigenous People Forum (IPF) has decided to suspend the proposed Rally temporarily un till the Talks with the GoMC which are scheduled for the 7th of September however if the outcome of the talks is not up to the expectation of the IPF then, it will reschedule for holding the suspended Mass Rally after 7th September informed L Hlima Keivom general secretary IPF on Thursday.
Keivim said that the Indigenous People’s Forum had proposed to take out a Mass Rally at Haflong on 25 August 2022 in Demand of Immediate-
1. Bifurcation of the District as per the IPF Proposed Map.
2. Revocation of the Notification for PRC Verification.
3. Maintenance of Justice in Job Appointments.
4. Payment of the Pending Gratuities & Pending Salaries.
In this connection, a letter (vide No. DH/CON/11/M-1/2022 dated, Haflong, the 22nd.Aug/22) was received on 23rd Aug. from the District Administration requesting the IPF to refrain from holding the proposed Mass Rally on the ground that Information had been received that the next Talks with the GoMC would be held in the month of September, 2022.

In response to this the IPF wrote back a letter asserting that it would refrain from holding the proposed Rally if it was in receipt, of-1) a specific date for holding Talks with the GoMC and (2) a written assurance from a competent authority that the Notification for PRC Verification would be revoked, in whose response the IPF have again received a letter from the district Administration (vide No.DH/CON/B/M-I/2022/62 dated 23rd Aug/22 in which a specific date for Talks with the GoMC shall have Talks with the IPF including topics pertaining to PRC Verification.
Therefore, the IPF has decided to suspend the proposed Rally temporarily until the Talks with the GoMC which are scheduled for the 7th of September. However, if the outcome of the Talks is not up to the expectation of the IPF then, it will reschedule for holding the suspended Mass Rally after 7th September.
The IPF extended its sincere thanks to all the people across the district who had taken the trouble of getting themselves ready to take part in the suspended proposed Rally.
It is a humble request to the Masses not to lose heart because of the suspension of the proposed programme and always get ready for a Democratic agitation as and when required Keivom added.
