Ranbir Roy’s murder remained unrevealed even after 19 years raising people’s concerns.

The word of justice is still crying silently. All the files are suppressed because there was a conspiracy of influential circles in the murder.  These issues came up during the discussion on the 19th death anniversary of Ranbir Roy, who was remembered by speakers and expressed their anger in a program organized by Barak Nagrik Sangsad at Silchar Press Club on Sunday.

Ranbir Roy was an owner of the newspaper ‘Sonar Cachar’ published in Silchar, Assam,  who was killed brutally which is considered one of the biggest conspiracy and murders.

The then Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi once announced the CBI investigation of his own, but nothing was done till date. This brutal fact of Ranbir Roy’s murder cannot be accepted under any circumstances, otherwise, there will be no rule of law opined the house remembering Roy.

Barak Nagrik Sangsad General Secretary Shankar Dey said that despite raising the demand repeatedly, no positive action has been taken in this regard from any political party or administration. Even those who had become public representatives with Ranbir Roy’s full support in the election arena had remained silent, Dey echoed.

Ranveer Roy’s wife Anita Roy, and daughter Basvi Roy ran around a lot in Dispur-Delhi, but no one felt the need to give any importance to the matter.  Ranveer Roy’s family had to spend so many years suffering in this way.  Demands for a CBI investigation have been raised repeatedly, but nothing has happened.

Several journalists will be awarded the ‘Ranbir Roy Memorial Journalism Award’ in near future by Barak Nagrik Sangsad, informed Shankar Dey.

Union Territory Demand Committee  President Sanjit Debnath highlighted Ranbir’s long-term close relationship with him and the flow of various events.  He said, even if it is late, if justice is not done in this incident, if the killers are not punished, then it will be considered an injustice.

Journalists Chayan Bhattacharya and Subir Dutt also spoke on this occasion.
