Khamsom villager waits for a hope!!!

The villagers appeals  the government to give proper required facilities in education, basic health and water

Vast Geagraphical area with just 2074 inhabitants at Khamson village lives the colourful Paomei Naga tribe community.After a  stretch of 1 hour 49mins ( 57.8km) from Imphal towards the North lies the district of Senapati. Khamson village journey starts 60km away from Senapati district.Currently they have just two hamlets one the Khamson village and the other Khamson Hupii with 1093 male and 983 female , 2020 survey.

Potato, cauliflower and paddy cultivation are  later sold at Senapati bazar ij private vehicles. 5% of the present population are working in government offices.Hardly two to three shops are visible inside these two hamlets.

RL Phaoshi Chairman Khasom School Management Development Committee stated that the Khamson junior high school is being functioning with only three  teachers at present. Remaining teachers are being hired from Senapati district.These hired teachers are being paid 7000-8000 as their salary which is possible after collective contributions from the parents and villages.Only some are fortunate to go outside the village to get basic education. 

The present condition of health sub  centre also need some support. Only two beds were seen at separate rooms inside the health sub centre.  Chairman Present Roumei along with two village authority expressed that the health sub centres were constructed on  2010 and got inaugurated on  2011. But  not functioning at all.  People face different problems even going to the District hospital which is 60 km away at Senapati.

“Cases of illness does arise but we do suffer alot” expressed by one villager.Present Roumai appealed the concern authority and the government to pay a visit and see the current condition . He also expressed that,” we would be glad if we could get some kind of knowledge on piggery,poultry and other methods to earn our living”

It could be recalled that the Khamson village had close affinity bonding with the the Maharajas of Manipur. The villagers earlier had a strong bond with the King and frequently supply bee wax and boats to the palace.

Elders of Paomei tribe,Khamson village donated  a pair of boat (one Tanna hi and another Hiyang Hiren ) way back 1930-1932 AD to Maharaja Meidingngu Churachand.

It could be seen inside the campus of State Museum, Imphal. Two new boats ‘Hiyang hiren’ which were made from” Uningthou ( Phoebe Hainesiana ) state tree of Manipur were used in construction of earlier boats and present two more boats whigh are being displayed inside Kangla ,framed inside glass frame. 

Despite of all past ties yet the village is very much underdeveloped and neglected in the entire Senapati DHQ, compared to other district.The villagers appeals  the government to give proper required facilities in education, basic health and water.
