Haflong gears up to celebrate the 126th Birth Anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, one of the most revered freedom fighters from the 21 st to 23rd at Haflong in a grand way. Preparations for the grand celebration are in full swing, office bearers along with prominent citizens of Haflong are supervising the preparation day and night.

The cynosure of the grand celebration would be the unveiling of the life-size bronze statue of Netaji in the heart of Haflong town by Chief Executive Member, N C Hills Autonomous Council Debolal Gorlosa during the celebration on 23rd Jan 2023. A huge gathering of people is expected on the day of celebration from every corner of the district.

Talking to the media, a Member of the organizing committee said during the two-day program there will be a Drawing Competition and Extempore Speech competition, a Blood Donation Camp at Haflong Civil Hospital, Fruit distribution to the patients at Haflong Civil Hospital, NETAJI BOSE CUP – Inter Club Basketball Tournament and on 23RD OF JANUARY, 2023 in the morning, playing of the patriotic song, gathering for the colorful procession with the portrait of Netaji from Cultural Hall etc. followed by a motor rally.

Arrival and felicitation of Chief Guest and VIPs, unveiling of Netaji’s statue followed by Azad Hind’s Flag hoisting. Speech from Guest Speaker, Declaration of Netaji’s birth time with blowing of Conch. In the evening, Lightening of earthen Lamps at Netaji point, Cultural Programme along withPrize, Distribution at Cultural Institute Hall.

Mention may be made here that the expenditure of the installation of the Statue will be borne by N C Hills Autonomous Council with the initiative of CEM Debolal Gorlosa. They also offered their heartfelt thanks to the CEM of NCHAC Debilal Gorlosa for the respect shown to the great leader Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose which would be the first ever life-size statue of Netaji being installed in Dima Hasao.
