Diphu : To commemorate his contribution to India’s struggle for independence, unlike every year the day was observed as Subhas Chandra Bose 126th birth anniversary across various parts of the nation. The birth anniversary of the great national hero was observed with patriotic enthusiasm at various parts of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong district. In district headquarter Diphu, rich floral tributes were paid at the statue of Netaji situated at Netaji park near Diphu circuit house by prominent citizens and government officials.

In Howraghat town non government organization Netaji Welfare Society observed the day with a number of agendas. Secretary of the NGO Gautom Shutradhor, began the flag hoisting ceremony. The national flag was officially hoisted by Monjit Terang, Circle Inspector and officer in-charge of Howraghat police station; the organizational flag was hoisted by Kanchan Kumar Deb, president of Netaji Welfare Society.

Floral tribute was paid at the statue of Netaji by Bidya Teron, chairmen, Howraghat Municipal Board followed by prominent citizens, students and youths. Sandalwood saplings were planted in the Netaji Welfare Society office premises to mark the occasion. Bhabesh Rajbongshi, retired headmaster of Howraghat Town Girls’ High School placed in the ground the first sapling.

Netaji Welfare Society started an ambulance service from today under the banner “Netaji Ambulance Service”. The service was flagged off by well-known senior physician Dr. Nigamananda Maithar. Events like painting, quiz competitions were also organized among the students, the winners were awarded adequately by the organizers.

Netaji Sports Clubs of Diphu located at Stala Bari observed the day with patriotic fervor. National tricolor was hoisted by Ratan Dey, vice president of Netaji Sports Clubs in presence of club members and school students at the club premise.

National anthem was presented by children and senior club members. Delicious cake and sweets were distributed among kids and members. Sushanta Roy, vice president of Diphu Press Club conveyed a message to Netaji Sports Club on the eve of 126th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The day was also observed by Karbi Anglong Netaji Conscious Co ordination Society.
