Diphu : The Adivasi People’s Liberation Army armed outfit, beloved to be a splinter group shaped by All Adivasi National Liberation Army may lay down arms ahead of the Republic Day celebration if all goes well.Senior leader of the outfit Samuel Munda has informed the media at Bokajan yesterday that Adivasi People’s Liberation Army was created in 2004 for the cause of tea tribe communities living in Assam.

“The APLA has been demanding for the economic boost of tea-tribes communities, schooling facility for Adivasi children, Schedule Tribe status of the Adavasi, issue of land registration document and raise in the rate of daily wages,” Munda said.

He also informed that in 2022 nine APLA cadres surrendered before Karbi Anglong police. The surrendered cadres have made all arrangements with high ups of Assam government and local council for their surrender ahead of Republic Day celebration. He expects that more than forty cadres led by chairman and secretary of the outfit will lay down arms.
