President of India given rousing welcome on her arrival to the State Capital

ITANAGAR : The President of India Smti Droupadi Murmu was accorded a rousing welcome at Donyi Polo Airport, Hollongi, Raj Bhawan Helipad and at Raj Bhawan on her arrival to the State’s Capital city of Itanagar today, February
20, 2023. The President of India is on her two days maiden visit to Arunachal Pradesh to grace the 37 th Statehood Day as chief guest. She would also address a special session of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly on February 21, 2023.

Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General Kaiwalya Trivikram Parnaik, PVSM, UYSM, YSM (Retd), State Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Union Law & Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju led the delegation in receiving the President at Airport. She was accorded an impressive guard of honour at the Airport.


Legislative Assembly Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona, Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao, Rajya Sabha MP Nabam Rebia, Doimukh Legislator Tana Heli Tara, Chief Secretary Dharmendra, DGP Satish Golcha, PapumPare DC and Papum Pare SP were present on the occasion. A traditional welcome with cultural troupes was organized at the Raj Bhawan Helipad where besides the Governor and Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Council of ministers were present.

At Raj Bhawan she was welcomed by the Raj Bhawan officers and officials led by Commissioner to Governor. She will be staying at Raj Bhawan for two days. Civic reception and felicitation of the President was held at Indira Gandhi Park where the statehood day function was held. The President is scheduled to meet eminent personalities of the state at Raj Bhawan, attend state banquet hosted by the Governor and plant a sapling at Raj Bhawan before leaving for the State Legislative Assembly to address a special session on Feb 21, 2023. President Murmu is the second woman to hold the highest position in the country after Smti Pratibha Devisingh Patil.
