Diphu : The 49th Karbi Youth Festival, came to a grand closer today; at the Karbi Peoples’ Hall, Taralangso in Diphu today. Earlier the yearly festival began with a magnificent cultural procession entitled Rongketong participated by twenty seven Karbi Cultural Society zones. The pageant was joined by cultural groups of Meghalaya and Morigaon district of Assam.

The Karbi Cultural Society banner was hoisted by president of KCS Chandra Sing Kro. He received the invited guests, visitors, delegations, participating zones, leaders of various political parties and organizations and spoke appreciation to the originators of the ethnic festival.

While addressing the opening ceremony Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Council expressed his appreciation for the Karbi Cultural Society’s initiators like Roy Enghi and Lunse Timung who were also in attendance at the ceremony. In the opening ceremony Dhoniram Tisso, internationally acclaimed filmmaker and producer whose unique creation ‘Mirbeen’, a film made on the backdrop of ethnic clash and new hope   was warmly felicitated by the Karbi Cultural Society. Dr. Tuliram Ronghang honored Dhoniram Tisso in presence of dignitaries and bureaucrats.
