The skill and employment mela was organised by the district skill committee under the district administration of Jiribam here today which was graced by the local MLA Md.Achab Uddin, Manipur’s leading business leaders Dr. Th. Dhabali Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of BABINA group of Companies and N. Irabanta Singh, Managing Director of UNNACO Group along with Deputy Commissioner of Jiribam W. Malemnganba Chenglei.
Dr. Th. Dhabali Singh stressed on the importance of Skill Index and stated that in India we have a very low Skill index. He also highlighted that private organisation needs skill employees and amongst the skill which he values most besides communication and hard skills is ‘honesty’. Honesty is the best policy and he advised the gathering that once you are not honest you are never going to succeed in life.
Narrating his life journey as entrepreneur he told the gathering how he started his career after he left his promising job and came back to serve in his home state which was an inspiring story for the young minds gathered in Jiribam today.
N. Irabanta Singh, MD UNNACO Group had expressed concern over low literacy rate among people. He also advised the district administration to look into why agriculture loan is low in the district including credit-deposit ratio of the district is much lower in comparison to state’s CD Ratio.
He also stressed on good education system and good teachers. Advising youths he stated that one thing he looks for in employees is integrity.
MLA Md. Achab Uddin stated that Jiribam has many opportunities. He also said that skill development is very much a requirement as there are mismatch between employers requirement and employees skills.
Deputy Commissioner of Jiribam showered his gratitude to all the guests who came all the way to Jiribam to address the local youths and various recruiters who put up stalls in the mela.
H. Anil, General Secretary (elect), Manipur Chambers of Commerce and Industries stated that literacy is high in Manipur but equally employment is an issue. Each year 30000 graduates comes out and are looking for white collar job.

A panel discussion on Skill Development ‘ Employment and Entrepreneurship Strengthening, scope and challenges which was moderated by L. Niranjan Singh, Director and CEO of JCRE Skill Solutions. The panelist included Dr. Dhabali, N. Irabanta Singh, L. Manoranjan Singh, CEO, KB Philanthropy 5, Waikhom Birendra Singh, Lead District Manager, Jiribam and Dr. Md. Samsur Jaman, Assistant Professor of Jiri College.
