Hafong : The World T B Day, oraganised by District T.B. Centre, Dima Hasao, NTEP team in collaboration with Piramal swasthya was observed with the theme ‘”Yes! WE CAN END TB” at Haflong on Friday.

In this connection a well attended meeting cum discussion was held at Circuit house with Rebecca Changsan, Deputy Secretary, Health NCHAC, Dima Hasao as Chief Guest,  Dr. Duleswar Gogoi, Jt.DHS, Dima Hasao as Guest of Honour while Dr Lina Hakmosa, Dr Marina Changsan attended as the invitees. Among others, Official of DTC, CHOs, ASHA, laboratory technician also were present in the program. 

Chief Guest Changsan in her speech stressed the importance of creating awareness while appealing for people support to eradicate the TB from the district. Dr Gogoi also spoke on the issue and said slogan ‘TB Harega  Desh jeetega’. Dr Hakmosa and Dr Changsan appreciated the Community Health Officers, ASHA, and Lab Technicians for their tireless efforts to find TB cases also helping the TB patients in treatments.

World Tuberculosis (TB) Day is being commemorated on March 24 to raise public awareness about the devastating health, social and economic consequences of TB, and to step up efforts to end the global TB epidemic. The date marks the day in 1882 when Dr Robert Koch announced that he had discovered the bacterium that causes TB, which opened the way towards diagnosing and curing this disease.

Community Health Officers, ASHA, and Lab Technicians were later felicitated with certificates of appreciations. Earlier, Dr. (Mrs) Chongjaneng Changsan, Sub. Div. Medl. & Health Officer welcomed all the guests and officials for the observance of the World TB Day.

Addressing the media Dr. (Mrs) Chongjaneng Changsan who is also the District TB Officer said there have been 501 positive cases of TB in the district so far and under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program, we are trying our best to make our district TB free within the stipulated time frame. She also appealed all concern to extend their support in this mission.
