Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme of Government of India is gaining popularity and achieving its objective which is being felt in Manipur where 55 strong contingents comprising students and faculties from Madhya Pradesh are at present on a tour of the Northeastern state.
The contingent is led by the members of Indian Institute of Technology, Indore and is being hosted by National Institute of Technology, Manipur. On Thursday the visiting students of MP got to experience the Imphal Peace Museum, Sangai Ethnic Park, Keibul Lamjao National Park, and Loktak Lake in Karang, INA Museum.
M. Asnikumar Singh, Chairman of Loktak Development Authority was present and interacted with the visiting team while the Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur district Lourembam Bikram addressed the students at Imphal Peace Museum and answered various questions from the students.
M. Asnikumar while addressing the students at the office of Loktak Development Authority in Loktak said that Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat is a visionary programmme started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is serving its objecting of uniting the people.
He welcomed the team from MP and wished the young mind to explore the rich heritage and culture of Manipur. Being an environmentalist Asnikumar passionately highlighted the value of Loktak Lake. He echoed that Loktak Lake is the cradle of Manipur’s civilisation
Appreciating PM Modi he stated that PM Modi had visites Loktak before he became Prime Minister and has taken note of its challenges and its value and now we are in the process of building the ecosystem of the lake and has approached Asian Development Bank for Technical and financial assistance which is also being whole heartedly supported by the Government of Manipur and is being taken up as a Mission mode project under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh.
He said the lake is a threatened one due to many man made challenges and unplanned development for last forty years but now they are going to rejuvenate the whole lake under the leadership of PM Modi.
Asnikumar wished all the students to take the leadership of achieving the objective of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat and wished them luck in their future endeavors.

In the evening the members of the visiting delegation were taken to Manipur State Film Development Society where the Secretary Sunzu Bachaspatimayum gave a historic perspective of Manipuri cinema as well as a guided tour of the newly started archive.
A critically acclaimed film Eikhoigi Yum was screened for the visiting delegation.
