Karbi Anglong | Govt. promoting millet based food

Students of the institute who attended the conference under the guidance of expert chefs served a variety of delicious dishes prepared from millet based products

Diphu : Topromote millet based food in Karbi Anglong, district administration in association with Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and Indian Hotel Management Guwahati organized a conference at Diphu Circuit house April 2. The particular initiative was graced by Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Tuliram Ronghang as guest.

Principal of Indian Hotel Management Guwahati,  Amitav Dey explained the object of meeting, in his deliberation he mentioned that  millet seed is in use as food science 300 BC and millet food contains protein fiber and other nutrients  and vitamin, it helps the diabetic patients and balances weight lost etc.

It may be mentioned here that in karbi Anglong three types of millets are cultivated, particularly serglem, finger and fox tail. Presently around 229 hectares of land is under millet cultivation in this hill district.

Beside Tuliram Ronghang, Deputy Commissioner of Karbi Anglong Madhumita Bhagobati, Diphu MLA Bidya Sing Engleng, Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council in charge of agriculture etc. Amarsing Tisso, principle of Institute of Hotel Management Guwahati, Amitabh Dey and other dignitaries were present in the conference.
