Diphu : Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced a package of INR 922 crore for construction of roadways to connect Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong autonomous districts at Diphu today.
The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of the project in a ceremony organized at Taralangso cultural village located at the fringe of Diphu town. This 75 kilometer road will also connect Howraghat region of the autonomous district; this scheme includes a flyover between Hojai and Nilbagan.
Replying to a question he told the local media that both Congress and Ajmal share the same football ground so he has nothing to say about Congress. He mentioned that he has not observed Joy Ram Engleng since quite a long time (the decedent BJP leader who has resigned from the party recently and set to join Congress).
He hinted that the government will enter into a peace accord with Kuki and Hmar rebel groups soon; he said that a minor clash takes place in Assam Meghalaya border for asserting claim over land but the empowered committees of both the states are looking into the matter.
Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has expressed concern about the poor outcome of the autonomous districts in the just announced result of ‘ Gunotsab ‘.
Apart from the road project, he also announced an additional package of INR 2503 crore rupees; this package will cover the expenditure for construction of several roads in West Karbi Anglong and Karbi Anglong.
The roads include Hamren – Tumpreng – Howraghat road, Jirikinding- Kheroni road, Raja Bari –Dalim Bari road, Rongjangpong- Amtreng road, Diphu- Dhansiri road and construction of 124 numbers of Anganwadi centers. He hinted that in the next half of the financial year fund will be provided for construction of some additional roads.
