Security advisor Kuldiep Singh takes charge from Manipur DGP; efforts on to bring situation under control
Imphal: With a view to reining in the situation in restive Manipur the stategovernment has now appointed Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence) Ashutosh Sinha as the overall operational commander, to control the situation.
Sinha will now report directly to the security advisor to the state government retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Kuldiep Singh.
It needs to be mentioned here that Singh has now taken the charge from the Director General of Police (DGP) Manipur P Doungel.
Sources from union home ministry said that union home minister Amit Shah has cancelled his Karnataka tour on Friday. Rather he will be monitoring the situation in Manipur directly from Delhi.
Shah had a detailed conversation with Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh and assured him of all sorts of assistance from the Central government.
In an internal communication, Deputy Inspector General (OPS) Manipur, informed Inspector Generals of Rapid Action Force (RAF)) and Communication that, “In view of the prevailing law and order situation in Manipur, it has been decided by the competent authority that a DIG each of RAF Sector and Communication will be placed at Imphal with immediate effect.”
It is to be mentioned that earlar the Governor of manipur has impossed article 355 in the state and now on the security measures would be directly handled by the Centre and agencies reporteing to the Governor.
