Diphu:  Karbi Anglong Women Justice Forum, Central Executive Committee has requested both Meitei and Kuki communities of Assam to preserve harmony and serenity between communities yesterday. The appeal has come in the wake of a volatile situation arising out of the demand for conceding the status of Scheduled Tribe (Hills) to the Meitei Community in the state of Manipur.

 The organization has mentioned in their appeal that, both the Meitei and Kuki communities living in Karbi Anglong Autonomous District of Assam should keep restraint for maintaining communal harmony.

 The organization has requested both the community to refrain from making statements in social media or other forums to avoid stimulation of communal tension in the district in particular and Assam in general. They expressed their deep sorrow and anguish over the loss of human lives and properties in the communal turmoil in the state of Manipur.
