Indigenous Manipuri body apprises Hindu Mahasabha’s on ground realities
Kolkata/Imphal: People’s Alliance for Peace and Progress Manipur (PAPPM) in association with Delhi Manipuri Society held a press-meet at Press Club of India, New Delhi on Tuesday and discussed the reasons behind the violent clash in Manipur.
PAPPM asserted that there are four key factors that created the ground for this clash. Since November 2018 the authorities are chasing the drug lords in Manipur.
The drug peddlers as well as poppy cultivators are being dominated by the Kukis, they alledged. During the course of this chase it came to the notice of the authorities concerned that from 2017—2021 Manipur lost around 758 sq Km forest land to these drug lords as well as to new unknown and unauthorised settlements.
Moreover, they alleged that both the reserved and protected forest land have been encroached by the Kuki immigrants from Myanmar. All these factors, PAPPM say have led to the present crisis.
