Manipur: Stranded truck drivers reach out to Himanta

According to sources, these drivers have got stuck in NH-37 – They are facing acute shortage of food as well

Silchar: About 90 truck drivers are stranded in violence-hit Manipur and they have sought Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s assistance for their immediate evacuation at the earliest possible time.

According to sources, these drivers have got stuck in NH-37. They are facing acute shortage of food as well. These truck drivers have come from different pockets of India.

In fact they also shared their ordeal with video calls. All of them are now waiting for a positive response from the authorities concerned.  

Meanwhile, the president of Northeast chapter of Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha Biswadeep Gupta has also appealed to the authorities concerned to ensure safe passage to all the stranded trucks up to Imphal else there will be shortage of food and medicines in Imphal.

“This is a humanitarian issue and efforts should be made to avert all sorts of artificial crises because the state is already suffering a lot,” Gupta said.
