After 9 years Congress can heave a sigh of relief due to Karnataka. Despite this stupendous feat, Congress will have to put its house in order. Many are nursing chief ministerial ambitions. India follows a federal structure and in such a system you need a strong regional face who can cement the position of the party in one’s respective state.

Congress needs to start this culture. BJP is powerful because its leaders are coming from across the country. Leaders are nurtured and created. Leaders are not born. 2024 will be a different ball game altogether.

For the moment Congress is smiling as it has tasted victory after years of debacle. Congratulations to the grand old party. Assembly elections and general elections are different. At the national level who will be the challenger? Let’s try to find out this answer first.

The debate should not centre around one particular individual. The content should be of high standard. Moral of the story is ‘change’ is permanent and this is the beauty of democracy.

Hopefully all will bury their bitterness and work together for a prosperous Karnataka. A nation belongs to all. Ideas and ideologies may be different but the spirit of nationalism is one.

This time the campaign in Karnataka was indeed very murky as all the political parties followed a no holds barred approach. Now, when the verdict is out the parties need to respect it and move on.

Many turncoats’ fate was also sealed in this election. One such turncoat is former chief minister and BJP leader Jagdish Shettar. He lost to his own protégé and probably his political career has reached its climax. For Rahul Gandhi Karnataka has undoubtedly given him a breathing space. Now, it’s to be seen how he can capitalize it on for the grand finale slated for 2024.
