Dimapur: As many as 177 cases out of 198 listed were settled and Rs. 2,89,07,043 total settlement involved in the cases were disposed at the National Lok Adalat sitting conducted across districts by the District Legal Services Authorities (DALSA) under the aegis of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authorities (NSLSA).

A press release by NSLSA informed that disputes/matters/cases listed for compromise settlement included cases in pending stage as well as in pre-litigation stage mostly in the category of bank Recovery, Criminal Compoundable cases & Motor Accident Cases Tribunal (MACT) and other cases viz. public utility.

The sittings held across the district headquarters were headed by the district judges, chief judicial magistrate and civil judges.

They were assisted by the panel lawyers serving along with the para legal volunteers, who acted as members and facilitators.

In Kiphire, five bank loan recovery cases were taken up and three cases were disposed of with a settlement amount of Rs. 37,59,651. Seven pre-litigation bank recovery cases were taken up and five were disposed of with a settlement amount of Rs. 11,10,912 in Zunheboto.

In Tuensang, nine bank recovery cases were settled and Rs10,01.951 total settlement were settled. 13 cases taken up and disposed of with a settlement amount of Rs.21,15,939 in Phek.

Wokha DLSA at the sitting took up eight cases and five cases were disposed of with a settlement amount of Rs.9,89,240.

In Longleng, 10 cases were settled and Rs. 1,93,806 involved in the cases were disposed while in Mokokchung DLSA took up 20 cases and a total settlement amount of Rs.28,55,427 were disposed.

In Dimapur, 51 cases were taken up and the settlement amount was Rs. 1,28,84,087 were disposed.

In Mon, 20 cases were taken up, and 11 of them were disposed and Rs 25,62,375 involved in the cases were disposed and 27 cases were settled in Kohima and total outstanding amount was Rs. 52,72,072 and was settled at Rs. 32,15,655.
