“The home minister assured me that the integrity of Manipur will remain intact. A joint monitoring committee comprising the state and central forces are already in place. They are having an eye on the militants to ensure that they return to their designated camps without creating much hullabaloo,” said Singh.

Singh also said that union home minister Amit Shah, ‘asked me to submit him a detailed report of all those who had fallen prey to the brutal bloodbath that wreaked havoc in Manipur.

“The home minister promised me that all efforts will be made to rehabilitate those victims of violence,” Singh quipped.

Singh also appealed to people not to hold dharnas or rallies in view of the sensitive phase the state has been witnessing since race riots between the majority Meiteis and the Kukis earlier this month.

He also said no force would be used to break the blockades imposed by some groups on highways in the state in the wake of the rioting, and instead “efforts would be made to reason with these demonstrators”.

Meanwhile, the chief minister reiterated his government’s stance and made it crystal clear that under any circumstances the territorial integrity of Manipur will be protected against all odds.
