Public Service Commission Convenes Management Development Program on Leadership Skill at IIPA

13 Tibetan Settlement officers from the northeast of India and Nepal took part in this training

New Delhi: The Public Service Commission (CTA) convened a management development program on leadership skills at Indian Institute for Public Administration (IIPA) in New Delhi from 15 to 20 May 2023. A total of 13 Tibetan Settlement officers from the northeast of India and Nepal took part in this training.

The program commenced with an inaugural address by the program director of IIPA, Dr. Surabhi Pandey, who welcomed distinguished dignitaries, CTA officials, and participants to the one week training program, followed by general Rajesh Sahai’s presentation of IIPA memento to the Chairman of Public Service Commission, Wangdu Tsering Pesur. Thereafter, training attendees were then informed about the objectives and needs of the program, the topic to be covered, methodology to be followed in the keynote address by the Chairman of the Public Service Commission, Wangdu Tsering Pesur.

In his address, Chairman shared that this training was the extension of last year’s training of settlement officers and then spoke about the mission of leadership skill training that aims to build the capacity of staff. He mentioned that as His Holiness the Dalai Lama always teaches that leadership must have genuine for the well-being of others, he emphasised that this basic foundation or structure is a pre-requisite quality of leadership.

He further urged participants to make the best use of this training opportunity and it’s necessary that whatever they learned from this training must be implemented on the ground level. Gen Rajesh Sahai, one of the prominent trainers of IIPA spoke about the importance of this leadership training and he emphasised that leadership first starts within, once you can lead yourself, you can lead others. The ceremony concluded with a word of thanks from Surabhi Pandey. The training program was funded by NDI, USAID.
